If your idea of the perfect holiday place is a typical French way of life in a rural village with all essential amenities nearby, the Tacot is for you.

You can pop out to the local bakery and buy authentic French bread, fish on the nearby river or stroll through the gentle landscape.

In the kitchen: dishwasher, fridge, microwave, ceramic glass hob, coffeemaker and toaster.

In the living room: flat screen TV, sofa bed.

In the bathroom: towel dryer, hairdryer, washing machine, iron, and ironing board.

In the garden: outdoor furniture, electric bbq.

The history of the Tacot begins in 1898 when it was decided to build a narrow-gauge railway between Clairvaux les Lacs and Lons le Saunier. The railway climbs through tunnels and viaducts across the hills of  Jura and passes Pont de Poitte located at equal distance between the two towns. At this point, the steam train had to stop for at least one hour to refill water. The Tacot became the ideal place for passengers to shelter. During the second world war, members of the resistance found in the Tacot a safe haven. Today the railway has disappeared but the Tacot remains a welcoming shelter for holiday makers.

Just nearby, you can go fishing, swimming or canoeing in the Ain river.
A few minutes away by car, there’s the Saisse river port as well as the Clairvaux, Vouglans and Chalain lakes.
20 kms around, you can visit Chateau-Chalon and its famous vineyard, explore a cavern or hike on the trail of the Cascade du Hérisson, an absolutely overwhelming succession of waterfalls.
In Lons le Saunier, you can relax in the Thermal Baths, enjoy the casino or learn more about the history of the Laughing Cow.
